Steve, I work in Ward 7 so I sent a note over to Phyllis Young.

If we can get enough Aldermen to repeal the ordinance or at least open an exception for demonstrations it would be a great thing.

The ordinance that the police are using as an excuse for clearing Kiener Plaza is a city ordinance that can be suspended or repeal by the Board of Aldermen. I strongly encourage all city residents to contact their alderperson on this issue.

Here is the message I sent this morning:

Alderwoman Young -
I am a resident of the 7th Ward. I am asking you to support the right of citizens to gather in peaceful assembly. Currently, a group of concerned citizens calling themselves Occupy Saint Louis are in Kiener Plaza protesting corporate greed. Whether or not you or I agree with their message, their right to assemble and protest is essential to the American political process. The Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department began removing protestors from Kiener Plaza at night. (And, arresting those who refused to leave.) They are using as their excuse the Park Curfew ordinance. The Board of Aldermen now has the opportunity to stand up for liberty and repeal that ordinance so the police have no reason to remove the "occupiers".
Your immediate action is required to support liberty,
